Participation Ribbons or Victory Trophies?

In a recent development of childhoods, the participation awards have run rampant with the Millenials and the younger generation. What is the best approach for youth sports and childhood participation?

There's the "everyone wins" approach which could lead to them becoming entitled.

The other option is to acknowledge only the victors which could have those children who lost develop some sort of self-worth or self-esteem issue.

In my opinion, you should (at the very least) give trophies to champions and second and third place prizes that becoming increasingly smaller then after a certain rank, no award is presented. If the accolade is an award for a particular category, the people who are in the running should be listed off.

For the QuintessentialVoyage view, you should always know how you place and rank and what you could improve on to move up in those rankings. Simple as that.

So here in lies the debate, what should we do? Should we acknowledge everyone who tries? Should we only award the winners?

Award the hard work, uplift the outstanding.
